I'm The Ghost
02:23
|
|||
Blank again, I go at this alone
I could hate myself forever
But I'd rather brave the great unknown
All good sense aside
I bought stock in your failed goodbyes
And now I'm fucking broke
Performed a simple test of pros and cons
After putting pen to paper
I have to wonder why I took so long
No one's choosing sides
I've written off all my allies
And they can fucking go
You're not haunting me
I'm the ghost
Shaking chains and bellowing
While banging on your walls
Inexplicably
Freezing cold
In your room, I'm hot and getting hotter
Melting polar ice caps like the sun...

I'll Buy The Drinks
02:36
|
|||
Half-hearted smiles, you talked for miles
I didn't hear a word you said
I once wore rose-colored glasses
But now I'm only seeing red
It's so hard now waking up the dead
When we're in bed
When we've nowhere to go
But I gotta know
If I buy the drinks will you pay the rent?
We'll run this race 'til it's typical
If you had some drive and I had success
I'd be a lot less cynical
You beat my brow and I can take a punch
But given repeated jabs and time
It stands to reason that I might become
Just a little hand-shy
I could love you if I didn't hate you so much
That's my counter-punch
We've eight more rounds to go
And I gotta know...

Designated Drunkard
02:42
|
|||
You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone
I heard that line in a bad song
Ah, fuck it, I'll use it anyway
Though not in the standard
Sense of the set of prescribed words
I mean it to be taken in both ways
Damn your eyes
Cuz I know it's absolutely true
Damn your eyes
Damn your eyes
I fucking damn you
Oh, party girl
You won't know what hit you
Oh, party girl
When you finally come to
Oh, party girl
I'll be gone
Oh so gone
Before I'm free
Of you
Damn you
You held me down, I towed the line
You demanded more, I turned to crime
Next thing you know
You're a saint and I'm a knave
The party girl and her slave
Damn your eyes
Cuz you know it's absolutely true
Damn your eyes
Damn your eyes
I fucking damn you
Oh, party girl
It'll take years of therapy
Oh, party girl
To mend all these injuries
Oh, party girl
You've done a number on me
So, damn your eyes
I fucking damn you
Damn you

An Unremarkable Life
03:00
|
|||
A fresh bandage and a crutch
One for the head, one for the heart
Why can't the two just work it out
Never accomplished all that much
Were it not for sheer luck you'd not have
A thing to brag about
You wanted more than the prognosticators
Had prophesized, oh-way-oh
Would be your prize for an unremarkable life
You wanted more, oh-way-oh
You smoke, you drink, and then you drug
But you're not tortured, you're just bored
Embittered by your own lethargy
Be sure to give your couch a hug
Sit on your hands and your best friend
No need to make an apology
You get a rock!
A lump of coal!
No dessert!
Off to bed without supper!
You get a D!
An incomplete!
A reprimand!
Go straight to the office!
You get what you pay for
Nothing less, nothing more...

Baby, I'm Unafraid
03:09
|
|||
I don't need to be saved
And I wouldn't want an early grave
What I desire is a place that I can fit into
Where you need me like I need you
It's all these walls that separate
Our chosen paths, I'll knock them down
Like a dozer in a shanty town
Like a king with a plastic crown
With some handgun bravado
But no handgun there to show
I act with the purpose of a man with nothing to lose
And the will to gain everything, all he is to do is to choose
I choose
I choose
I choose you
I can't hear a sound
I can't find a doorway
I can't feel the ground
There's no one around
But you and me
Baby, I am unafraid
At the dawn of many long days
Stretching out as far as the eye can see
Where the years feel like centuries
It's not my choice to lay and wait
I lost all control on the day
When I fell in love with you
Oh, what would you have me do?
Should I lay my weapons down?
Or stand and hold my ground?
Though my heart may be aching from splitting, then breaking in two
I'm proudly conceding my heart will be bleeding for you
My heart
My heart
Is bleeding for you...

Seven Little Letters
02:44
|
|||
You broke my heart
You broke my heart
You broke my heart
With your seven hurried little letters
You crushed my ego
You crushed my ego
You crushed my ego
And I don't see it ever getting better
Go screaming toward the exits, yeah, I guess it's for the better
'Cuz I wouldn't want a fan who only likes the pretty weather
And skewed is your perspective from the top down to the bottom
If you want to start a battle, better smoke 'em if you got 'em
You sullied my name
You sullied my name
You sullied my name
Oh the humanity and horror
You've got my number
You've got my number
You've got my number
Color me defamed and dishonored
Go air your petty grievance from the safety of your hovel
You stir it with a spoon and then I chuck it with a shovel
And you're preaching to the choir, like as if they were the masses
But I'm passing out the truth while I'm handing them their asses
A clumsy jab, then you run away
Ran up a tab that you couldn't pay
That yellow stripe runs to the bone
Is that a chin or a dinner roll?
I look again but I still don't know
You've got no head, you've got a hole
You know no sin, you're infallible
You're not a man, you're just a troll
1-2-3-4-5-6-7 oh no!
You broke my heart
You broke my heart
You broke my heart
And I don't see it ever getting better

The Party Never Ends
02:05
|
|||
Did you take your walk of shame today?
One of your few daily rituals
To make a purchase at the basement pharmacy
DIY pharmaceuticals
'Cuz you're sick and so depraved
You're not gone, but you can't be saved
It's your lot in life, so do this...
So, take it to the ground
The party's never ending now
Take it to the ground
When you perform your self-surgery
Splayed out on a filthy bathroom floor
Hacking away with a common kitchen knife
Your pipes, they will rust forevermore
Call on a pack of marauding murderers
And invite them into your home
Crank the tunes, the party will continue when you're gone
So do this...

Oh, Sookie-o
02:11
|
|||
She found herself a distraction
To keep me off her mind
What a silly notion
Is he the best she could find?
I run around all directions
Searching for something to do
He ain't that pretty
Just slightly witty
Oh, what a pity
That she thought for a moment she could find someone better than me
She's hitching a ride to Tokyo
She's hitching a ride, oh, Sookie-o

Who The Fuck Are you?
03:08
|
|||
I admit I made some pretty big mistakes
And hurt you more than I can say
Or begin to contemplate
But the events of these, the past three years
The cacophony of whispering peers
Has left me with two deaf and burning ears
I know your face, I know your name
Inside you're not the same
So I must inquire...
Who the fuck are you?
And where'd she go off to?
What happened to that girl I used to know?
Did you take her life?
When you hastily became a wife
To the first boring chump
Pretending to know who she was
And these days I find the memories
Relentlessly they're haunting me
In dreams I live an unfamiliar life
It's like a tangent universe I'm in
A chance to start over again
A harsh glimpse at what might have been
Had I not had such shit for brains
I know your face and name
Still, it's no excuse...
I thought you were stronger than that
I thought you a good head on your shoulders
But you gave in so easily
For the approval of mother and father
You've become what
You've become what
You've become what you never wanted to be
You've become what you never thought you would be
You've become what you always said that you would never be
You've become ordinary
So!
Who the fuck are you?
And where'd she go off to?
What happened to that girl I used to know?
Did you take her life?
When you hastily became a wife
To the first boring chump
Pretending to know who she was
Ordinary girl

Big In Japan Reno, Nevada
We came, we saw, we released our first album in 2001... And then we found out there was another Big In Japan from the UK in the late 70s. They're good, too! Oops! The internet wasn't that ubiquitous back in 2001, and even though we love punk-post-punk-new-wave-etc. from their region and time period, we missed them somehow. Any bands started beyond 2010 really have no excuse for aping a name. ... more
